The Foundation for Every Organization is Solid Leadership. Meet Ours!
OUR FOUNDATION IS BUILT UPON DEDICATION.
Since the 1980s, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has been used to study the nerve fibers that carry information about movements from the brain to the spinal cord and on to the muscles. In the late 1990s, physicians began to explore the therapeutic potential of TMS for the treatment of a variety of diseases, with depression being the most thoroughly studied to date. Since then, more than 20 randomized, controlled trials studying TMS as a treatment for depression have been published by researchers throughout the world.
The Foundation for the Advancement of Clinical TMS (FACTMS) has been established to advance our field and the TMS society through education, advocacy, and other relevant ways. We invite you to partner with us!

About the TMS Society
The Society includes TMS providers with extensive clinical and research experience from across the United States and the world.
It takes a community to make a difference! We welcome your time, talents, and resources as we work to advance the field together.
The Reasons to get Involved are Endless.
Perception is Everything
Approximately 50% to 60% of people with depression who have tried and failed to receive benefit from medications experience a clinically meaningful response with TMS. About one-third of these individuals experience a full remission, meaning that their symptoms go away completely. Yet, because of some of the negative information relayed, we continue to struggle to help patients see the benefits. The only way to get those who need it most to take advantage of this life changing treatment is for us to advocate and counteract with proper messaging. We must work together to make this happen!
I wish everyone knew about TMS therapy.
I was severely depressed over a period of three years. I tried several antidepressants but nothing really seemed to work. My family was very poorly impacted by the whole problem of my depression. By the end of the TMS treatment, things were better than I could have imagined. After that sixth week, I was so excited that my life was starting to resume and that I had more to look forward to.
