Kimberly Cress, MD

Dr. Kimberly Cress is a board-certified psychiatrist and a pioneering leader in the field of neuromodulation. An early adopter of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Dr Cress has been a dedicated provider of the therapy since April 2010. She was initially drawn to TMS after seeing many of her patients continue to struggle with depression and anxiety despite multiple medication trials. Her mission is to empower individuals to reclaim their quality of life through advanced treatments that minimize unwanted side effects.
After 25 years of practice in Houston, Texas, Dr Cress moved to Tennessee in September 2025 to join the expert team at Synaptic Psych in Nashville.
Dr. Cress received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed her psychiatric residency at the Baylor College of Medicine. Her specialized training includes Harvard Medical School’s Intensive Course in TMS and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation, as well as advanced coursework at Duke University. She has been an active member of the Clinical TMS Society (CTMSS) including President from 2020-2021. With her dedication to the CTMSS she was awarded Fellow and is a Board Member of the Foundation for the Advancement of Clinical TMS (FACTMS).
