The Foundation for the Advancement of Clinical TMS (FACTMS) is pleased to announce the opening of the first Neil S. Hirsch TMS Center at Kitsap Mental Health Services in Bremerton, Washington. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a cutting-edge treatment for depression and other neuropsychiatric disorders.

“As FACTMS President, I am honored to announce the opening of the first FACTMS sponsored Neil S. Hirsch TMS clinic in alliance with Kitsap Mental Health Services,” said Dr. Randy Pardell. “This represents a significant step forward in our mission to broaden access to transformative TMS therapy. Our partnership with the Neil S. Hirsch Foundation at Kitsap is a testament to our shared commitment to revolutionize psychiatric care and empower individuals facing neuropsychiatric disorders. Through this clinic, we honor Neil’s enduring legacy as a visionary and advocate, ensuring that his impact continues to uplift and transform lives.”

“As a mental health advocate, Neil would have been so proud to collaborate in the development of this clinic, bringing cutting-edge advances in neuromodulation to those who suffer with mental illness,” said Steven N. Rappaport, Trustee of the Neil S. Hirsch Foundation.

FACTMS and Kitsap Mental Health Services began their collaboration to establish the Neil S. Hirsch TMS Center in February 2024. Funding from the Neil S. Hirsch Foundation will be used to cover start-up costs and resources necessary to establish the TMS Center, which will offer TMS therapy to individuals in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

“We are proud to offer TMS to patients who would otherwise not have access, because they are on Medicaid or don’t have insurance,” said Dr. James Hughes, Chief Medical Officer of Kitsap Mental Health Services.  “Expanding TMS to community mental health agencies means members of underserved populations will get the help they need to reclaim their lives.”

As part of establishing the clinic, FACTMS received a generous in-kind donation from device manufacturer Magstim. The donation of their Horizon Lite TMS machine allows for more funds to be available to assist those in need. “The Magstim team is thrilled to support FACTMS and Kitsap Mental Health Services with this advanced TMS technology,” said CEO Ronnie Stolec-Campo. “This Horizon Lite TMS system offers a non-medication solution to those suffering with mental illness, which affects more than 50 million Americans, a large percentage of which go without treatment.”
